In May 2023 I hiked across northern England on the Coast to Coast Path.
This spans from the Irish Sea in the west, through the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park all the way to the North Sea in the East…
In the Yorkshire Dales I saw this beautiful ruin where just the doorway was left…
As I stood in this doorway the feeling was so magical.
I painted it as if the sky could also be seen through the doorway – now, it’s the gateway back to this moment of my journey, or out to explore any world.

Painting minis is one of the joys of my life! It gives me the chance to play with painting on a tiny scale… I can try many variations; different underpaintings; different papers and pastels to get all sorts of different effects. So much fun!
